Julie Whelan - media specialist
Hello! I am Julie Whelan and the 2023-24 school year is my 12th year at Sweet Apple. I am also a former Sweet Apple parent. Both of my sons (Connor, age 25 and Alex, age 21) attended SAE for elementary school. Before beginning work here, I also spent many hours as a Media Center volunteer.
I earned my Master's Degree in Library Media Technology from Georgia State University. I am a native New Yorker (Let's Go Mets!) and have a B.A. from the State University of New York at Albany. Before becoming a media specialist, I worked in advertising and marketing for several Fortune 500 companies. I am also a member of Fulton County Schools's Vanguard team responsible for helping use technology to transform learning.
Our media center is an active part of the school where students come to read, research and explore. Our modern space reflects a 21st-century learning environment and instruction includes lessons on digital citizenship.
Please contact me or stop by anytime should you have any questions/comments or simply to say hello!

Jocelyn Mackinnon - media paraprofessional
I am Jocelyn MacKinnon and have been a Sweet Apple parent for 8 years (this is my last sadly). I am one of the Media Center paraprofessionals. I have been subbing at Sweet Apple for the last 5 years and am so excited to be here full time. Before becoming a mom, I taught Middle and High School Social Studies for 10 years. I have two sons; one is at Elkins Pointe Middle School in 7th grade and the other is a 5th grader here at SAE. I love to go to the beach, read, and hike with my dogs.
Jessica black - media paraprofessional
My name is Jessica Black and this will be my second year at Sweet Apple as a Paraprofessional. I joined Fulton County Schools in 2008 as a Special Education Instructional Paraprofessional and later taught Kindergarten and First Grade for five years. What makes me most happy is spending quality time with my husband and two boys, whom also attend SAE. You can usually find me sideline cheering my boys on playing baseball and basketball (we are BIG Laker fans). I also enjoy walking and playing tennis. I’m looking forward to working alongside Mrs. Whelan and Mrs. MacKinnon and making this year the best one yet.
